Disclaimer: there’s a little bit of a rant here, with some sarcasm and a bit of cynism.
We went to the Dolomites National Park in Val del Mis today.
The place itself is great, but as always italians manage to screw all the wonderful places in their country with poor services.
There’s no parking. It’s incredible that, given we’re flooded with tourists every day of the year, our parking are so scarce. The food was good and simple, but we had to wait an hour to have our panini, not counting the other hour to find seats. The owners of the little café there told us they had electricity for just two grills (!!!!!!!).. And the restroorms: there weren’t any. Or better, there were, but all out of order, and the lady there told us they’ve been like that for a year. Not that having working bathroom would have changed that much since it was a single toilet for probably all the 1000 persons there, but i’d have rather stand in the line and waiting my turn than keeping it till home. Oh yes, did i told you there’s no mobile service?
Anyways, the rest was great. And by that I mean the lake, the waterfalls and the mountains. Everything made by mother nature and (sarcasm an cynism here) mostly untouched by modern italians.
Don’t get me wrong, I really recommend visiting Val del Mis, for a trip in the Dolomites wilderness. Just make sure to bring food with you, and maybe a catheter.
Check the pictures below (low quality, shot with our phones, we didn’t bring the camera today).
